Meet the Chaplains

Brent Bettmann

Chaplain Brent Bettmann

Brent is a native of Nebraska and love his Cornhuskers. He is graduate of Colorado Christian University in Lakewood. He has served in full-time pastoral ministry for 12 years and is currently on staff at Colorado Christian University in the College of Adult and Graduate Studies. He is married to his wife Amy and they have one daughter. Brent's love of racing began when he attended the Indy 500 as teenager. He has since been to several NASCAR races but prefers the Saturday night short track racing at CNS. His desire as a chaplain is to show people the grace and love of Jesus Christ though a ministry of service and availability. He considers it a privilege to be a part of such a great racing community like CNS. When he is not at the track, he enjoys spending time with his family and working toward a M.A. degree in Corporate Education.

Mike Sundin

Chaplain Mike Sundin

Resides in Aurora, CO. Not a native to Colorado but making sure his children will be. He is married to his wife Kristen and they have two boys. They are also the owners of two pug dogs. Mike is currently employed by UPS.

Mike has served within in the local church as Youth Pastor for 11 years. His desire has always been to help others understand and study the Bible for themselves. His passion for Motor Sports Ministry: "I enjoy the race atmosphere and I believe that it is a great opportunity to meet various people who have the same excitement for racing that I do. My hope is to bring my love for God, His Word and racing into some great conversations at Colorado National Speedway."

Mike lives by the truth found in II Timothy 2:15 "Be diligent to present yourself as a workman who needs not to be ashamed. He believes in God's Grace, Love and Truth and likes to tell others what God has and continues to do in his life.

Brian Rodgers

Chaplain Brian Rodgers

Brian Rodgers is a native of Colorado. He attended Denver Lutheran High School, the University of Northern Colorado, and Metropolitan State College. He is the Vice-President of Service with a Landscape/Sprinkler company in Littleton, CO. He is married to his wife Tanya and they have one teenage son. He has worked in various forms of ministry in his home church since high school and currently teaches an adult Sunday school class at Columbine Hills Church of the Nazarene and serves on the church board. He is also active with his son's Boy Scout troop.

His whole family are NASCAR fans and they regularly watch races on TV or attend races at CNS during the summer season. Brian has the heart and passion for people and loves serving the CNS racing community. He has been a member of the CNS chaplain team for three years.

Jim Mitchell

Chaplain Jim Mitchell

Jim has followed motorsports for over 40 years. His passion for racing was fueled by attending tracks across the Midwest. Jim and wife Robin share their Arvada home with two black Labs named Sirius and Smoke. Though they have no children of their own they are hoping to adopt during the next year. They are members of Crossroads Church of Denver, where they serve together in Marriage leadership. Jim is also a supervisor with the church security team. Jim's background in ministry includes high school and college youth leadership, coffeehouse and street evangelism, concert promotion and evangelism as an on-air personality in Christian radio.

Jim has been attending CNS for several years and is also a regular participant on the message boards at Big West Racing.com, where he's known as Hammerhead. At CNS Jim desires to be known as a friend...someone who shares everyone's passion for the sport and the people involved in it. His desire is to be able to help meet the spiritual and emotional needs of the racing community. When he's not working in the pits you'll often find Jim in the Family section at the track - be sure to stop by and say hello!
